Eight years ago, Jeffrey and I first crossed paths when I was on the hunt for a barber for my son. Drawn in by the name "Gifted Hands," I called to make an appointment and was met with a voice that was both firm and distinctive. For our initial visit, I stayed with my son, as we were new to the city and I wanted to ensure he was in a comfortable environment. Over the next few appointments, I noticed Jeffrey’s unique blend of sternness and humility, which eased my concerns. Before long, I felt comfortable enough to wait in the car while my son had his haircuts.

Years later, our paths crossed again one evening at Walmart—where, as it turns out, you can find everything, including unexpected connections. Despite my very casual appearance, Jeffrey greeted me with warmth, and we ended up chatting outside the store for hours. We exchanged numbers and began having long, meaningful conversations that deepened our bond.

Jeffrey's calming voice and caring nature quickly drew me in. One of our earliest and most memorable moments was a walk along Bayshore, where we lost track of time talking beneath a tree that would come to hold special significance for us.

On a December afternoon, Jeffrey asked me to be his girlfriend. Our relationship grew stronger over time, but soon after, the world faced a crisis and I fell seriously ill with COVID-19. During my recovery, Jeffrey was a steadfast source of support, checking on my son and bringing me everything I needed. His unwavering dedication only deepened my feelings for him.

One Sunday, we visited "our tree" where Jeffrey proposed. With sincerity in his eyes and a heart full of love, he asked me to marry him. My response was a heartfelt "Yes, I will marry you!"—a perfect, intimate moment that encapsulated our journey.
